Lotto 6/49Two Quebecers receive $5,000,000 on the same day!

Montréal, May 1, 2025 — Two Montérégie residents each won the $5,000,000 Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot and received their cheques on April 25. Albert Rainville won this jackpot in the April 16 draw while Bernard Dupuis had the winning ticket since March 22 and didn’t know it! So Loto-Québec awarded a total of $10,000,000 in a matter of hours!

“The Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot has been won six times in Quebec since the beginning of 2025, in four regions of the province. These prizes generate positive impacts in the winners’ communities.”

  • Rainville went inside the Proxi convenience store in Saint-Hyacinthe after filling up his car.
  • While chatting with the attendant, he jokingly said he’d gladly take a $5,000,000 cheque, referring to the Lotto 6/49 jackpot. Then, he bought a ticket.
  • It was the same attendant who checked the ticket after the draw. She immediately called her manager when she realized Rainville had won the jackpot.
  • Once back home, Rainville was thrilled! “My eyes welled up a bit,” he confided. His two sons, who were visiting, joined him and his wife to celebrate his new fortune—until 2:15 in the morning!
  • The next day, he shared the news with his three daughters. Given Rainville’s playful nature, they didn’t believe him right away! But once he convinced them, they also shed a few tears of joy.
  • He received his prize three days later, surrounded by his family, during an event at the retailer where he bought his winning ticket.
  • The retired construction worker can now realize his dream of buying a pickup truck. He’ll also keep a promise he’d made to himself to donate to an organization that helps women victims of violence if he ever won the lottery.

The Proxi convenience store where the winning ticket was purchased is at 17090 Avenue Saint-Louis in Saint-Hyacinthe. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $50,000.

Bernard Dupuis had been a millionaire for a month and didn’t know it!

  • Bernard Dupuis always buys a ticket for the upcoming month’s Lotto 6/49 draws. He hadn’t realized he’d been holding the $5,000,000 winning ticket since March 22.
  • After checking his ticket on the Loto-Québec app, he asked his spouse to confirm if she saw the same amount. He received his prize in her company.
  • The retiree from the printing industry plans to purchase a new property and take another trip to Hawaii. But first, he’s looking forward to taking some time to let the dust settle.

The winning ticket was purchased at Familiprix, at 2788 Chemin de Chambly in Longueuil. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $50,000.

$63 million in prizes up for grabs in the next draw

In Saturday’s Lotto 6/49 draw, the Gold Ball Jackpot will be an estimated $58 million. And as is the case in every Lotto 6/49 draw, the $5 million Classic Jackpot will also be up for grabs.
